In just 12 weeks, average students can make gains of up to two years in their reading age.

The Listen to Read program teaches through an intensive phonics approach, combining a tested and proven reading curriculum with added high-frequency sound stimulation.

Multisensory learning helps children to interpret, comprehend and synthesise information. They can use more than one sensory input to make connections and enhance reading skills.

HOW TO USE LISTEN TO READ

Just 30 minutes practice, five times a week for 12 weeks is all it takes for students to see major gains.

Multisensory Learning instruction involves engaging two or more senses at the same time (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) to develop new brain pathways.

WHO IS IT FOR?

  • Struggling readers from Year 1 through to High School. 
  • Ideal for students whose reading age is two years or more behind their chronological age. 
  • Those students who have reading issues, dyslexia, and poor auditory processing.

DELIVERY

  • Specialised listening device.
  • Accompanying workbook.
  • Individualised reading program.
  • Can be used in a small group setting, each student has their own listening device and workbook.
  • The teacher or learning support officer is continually monitoring the progress of each student.
  • Half an hour at least 5 times a week.
  • Pre and post-testing with a Standardised Reading Age Test 
  • Once improvements have been observed students read aloud using a Forbrain device. More Info Here

Listen to Read Professional Development

The one day Listen to Read Professional Development workshop develops knowledge and skills in implementing the program and the understanding of specific reading difficulties. This includes an overview of the research that underpins Listen to Read.

The workshop covers how to teach phonics explicitly and systematically, building vocabulary and developing comprehension strategies.

Who should attend ?

It would be beneficial for all staff to attend the professional development however at a minimum the teachers and learning support officers who are implementing the program should attend.

NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)

Completing Listen to Read Professional Development Workshop will contribute 4 hours 30 minutes of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of Delivery and assessment of NSW Curriculum addressing standard descriptors 1.2.2, 2.2.2, 2.5.2 & 5.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
